What is Cell Biology International Reports?

Cell Biology International Reports is the online-only, Open-Access sister publication to Cell Biology International.

The Journal is owned by the International Federation for Cell Biology.

What areas does the Journal cover?

Cell Biology International Reports publishes original research papers relating to all aspects of animal and plant cell biology that the Editorial Board of Cell Biology International judge to make a sound contribution to the literature (and see below).

What are the criteria for publication?

Papers must report primary data
The work presented must be original and must have not been published elsewhere
All experimental work and analysis must be reported in sufficient detail for others to repeat the work
Papers must comply with standards for data deposition
The conclusions must be presented appropriately and must be supported by the data reported
The research presented must conform to all relevant ethical guidelines of both research and publication

Who is on the Editorial Board?

The Editorial Board of Cell Biology International Reports is the same as that for Cell Biology International, which is headed by Denys Wheatley (Aberdeen) as Editor-in-Chief.

How should I format my manuscript?

Please follow the guidelines given in the Instructions for Authors for Cell Biology International when you prepare your manuscript.

Do I have to pay to publish in Cell Biology International Reports?

Yes - there is a discounted Open Access publication fee of GBP500 for authors at an institution with a subscription to Cell Biology International or GBP750 for other authors. There are no additional submission, page or colour charges.

What happens to my copyright if my paper is published in Cell Biology International Reports?

On acceptance we will ask you to sign an Open Access Licence to Publish to allow your article to be distributed by Portland Press Limited under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Licence (http://creativecommons.org/licences/by-nc/2.5/), which permits unrestricted, non-commercial use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the work is properly cited. Once your Licence to Publish has been received and payment of the relevant Open Access publication fee has been made, your accepted paper will be processed and the Version of Record of your article will be made freely available upon publication.
